The book of Job will help us to develop such an understanding. God appears to Job in the “whirlwind” (Job 38:1); that word could be translated with terms such as “tempest” or “storm” (for use of the Hebrew word, see Pss. 107:25; 148:8; Isa. 29:6; Jon. 1:4, 12).
